These Maps come from months of studying the walking distances in the very center of Madrid. They are practical maps which you wont be able to find elsewhere.

The below map shows the areas of Madrid that are within a 20 minute walk from the Gran Via area.

The below map shows zip codes for the very centric areas as well as marking some of the Metro stations that mark some of the corner areas.

Lavapies is an area of Madrid which can be interesting to go out with friends to have a drink but at the same time it is an area that may not be suitable for living depending on your taste.

The below map marks the areas that are Hard Core Lavapies where during the day you see many immigrants from South Sahara hanging around.

The below map describes my walking experience from Metro Alvarado towards the Center. It is a long boring walk, 10 minutes too long. So I wouldn't want to live in Alvarado area.

The below map describes my walking experience from Gran Via area to Acacias. To consider here is that Madrid has been build on Hills and Slopes and you need to consider that in some areas you would be climbing significan hills and uphill roads.

The below Pictures is of a bar in the Center of Madrid with its typical Tiles or Azulejos.

The below Pictures is of the Rastro area at night during a normal week. Note the steep slope.

One of the problems with some of the apartments in a Madrid is that they might be dark as light does not get into them, unless they have a large courtyard. Satellite images are really helpful to get an idea about a building without getting off your chair.

The below Pictures is of the street Salitre which is OK and livable as it is not completely stuck inside the Lavapies center.
