What my opinion is on Twitter

Summary: my take and review of twitter or twitter.com and to whome it appeals or doesn't .

The company I work for is working on a new product. I listened to the presentation of the product that one of the founders of the company did. It is one of those products like twitter that answers the question "What are you doing now"?. Twitter is big in the U.S. and on the web elsewhere but their SMS and therefore mobile capability is weak and problematic outside the U.S. My guess is that the guys at my company think that they can be like twitter but much stronger worldwide when it comes to mobile & SMS platform.

So anyway, so far I had not cared about twitter, so I decided it was time I learned about it. Here is my review:

There is a video presentation for the site thankfully explaining what is going on. When you join, you have a very plain page. Then people very interested in you will become followers. Next thing you know, on your page you will see a list with short updates of less than 140 chars of your followers ( friends).

Who is interested in this or what is the use of it? Apparently this is a product useful for people that dont have something sufficiently interesting for a blog or that want others to know about something that is not sufficient material for an email. Like for example, Katie has just started reading a Taschen book and she is excited about it and wants her friends to know. On the other hand, people very close to Katie might want to know whats going on with her... the stuff she doesnt write in her emails.

I get the concept, but it is definitly not for me. I have a very tiring long commute to work and I have to get on this annoying bus where there are these people talking on their cell phones for hours. God knows I'd love to smack their cell phones in their heads until they bleed!!. You don't have to guess what they talk about: NOTHING . Lets see, what can they be talking about? :
I bought this skirt... We just turned left...we just turned right...I'm peeing... I'm going to see you in five minutes... what did you just eat...what am i eating...I'm watching tv tonight...

This is definitly not a product for individualistic people like me. It's for boneheads with bonehead friends!!! . If I had friends and they called me all the time to say: what movie they are watching.... or wether they are listening to Metalica or Slayer... I would hang up on them really quick!!!!!!!!! GET A LIFE !!!
