As this blog has been growing I decided it had become time to do something about it being so slow when loading. This is because of all the google Ads. The other reason was that I was using EXPANDABLE posts thinking that by having only the summary visible the browser wouldnt need to load the entire post. Then I find out that blogger loads the entire post anyway. Even though the body is not visible. So exapnading or summarizing things doesnt take away the load. My websites have always been image heavy and this one couldn't be different. So as a solution recently I'm trying a new thing, which is to post a mini summary and the banner of the article on blogger and have the body of the page hosted outside the blogger system. This way when blogger is loaded it doesnt also try to load the body. However doing this has caused me getting flagged (or banned ) in Technorati .
Apparently their system does not like feeds where only the summary of the article appears. Obviously their crawler is too primitive to realize that the article's body continues on another host in a totally legitimate fashion and for loading releif purposes.
Hey Technorati , if people like me can't get our legitimate blogs listed, I think your marketing slogan of trying to be the blogsphere's central is nothing more than a pretentious wish. I'm thinking about those new blog templates called Neo that advertize themselves as lightning fast template for Blogger. It says it uses cutting edge technology called AJAX (in particular JSON). I know Ajax would make relaoding faster, but I am not sure if it would make the FIRST initial load of the website or blog faster. The " condanna questo blog " part in the title is a little joke of mine playing with the il-papa-condanna-questo blog famous banner. If you understand italian, the link has an interesting story about that banner.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I want to go thru the trouble of installing Neo . All my customizations will be lost . I would have to backup blogger first . Here are some silly ways to backup a blogger / blogspot blog:
