CLICK to Enlarge | I visited Argentina in March 2010. They still have some used vinyl record stores left. However one thing is clear. The more interesting items have been cleaned up by record dealers who rushed and bought everything to resell them on eBay. So what I found was either crap or really expensive material. For example, a vinyl copy of Soda Stereo's was 600 ARS which is really expensive. Most stores are around Corrientes Avenue. |

Also in the San Telmo ( SanTelmo ) area there are antique stores and as you see there are also vinyl being sold there, though it is very hard to browse as they are in bad shape stuck under 100's of other items. |
I was also in Brazil. In Rio de Janeiro I was only able to find one store, I think it was called Emporio Musicale Rua Sete de Setembro in the Center. It was not very exciting but the price was right. In Salvador de Bahía right in the main plaza of Pelourinho there are two record stores. One is too expensive wanting 10 Euros per LP, but there is a second store called MINISOM which had a very cute store owner who was really helpful and the prices where acceptable. He would even play the reocrds, so I bought some samba records like Clara Nunes and more there. There is also the museum of Brazilian music close by with vinyl records for exhibition only.
