You may be surprised to know that there was Jazz music in Iran in the 1960's. Iranian's use the term jazz incorrectly. But the orchestra's and the musicians over there also listened and learned from Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Bob Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald and all the other great american jazz musicians. Here is an example of a persian jazz record:

That I know of there were no per se jazz artists. And I'm glad it was not so. I mean it would not have much merit to just take an american style of music and sing it in persian. That is why I prefer persian music that has elements that are uniquely persian. However the famous artists occasionally would record these purely jazz songs. This could be because of the heavy role the National Radio of Iran played in the 1960's. It had several inhouse orchestras. My guess is that occasionally they wished to have a Jazz program and for the vocals they would call the famous iranian singers to come and sing on their latest jazz groove. Another example of a Jazz 45rpm of Iran :
