Back in the late 90s I would stick on my work office wall every month a calendar that would keep me focused on happy things that happen or fun things I was planning for the future. I mean I had an accounting job consisting of looking at the payrolls of rich people while I myself was making shit. I took it seriously as the abundant yellow smiley faces suggest in this calendar from March 1999.
Around that same time I had a friend called Kieth wich I met thru liking both of us Echo and The Bunnymen. Keith made even less money than me but 2 or three times a week he would make the almost 2 hour drive from San Jose to San Francisco to go to some punk concert or another. In my March 1999 calendar I see a note about going to see Beach Blanket Babylon .
I hate theatre but I still remember how much I loved Beach Blanket Babylon.. The show is held in a small theatre, so you are very close to the actors and you feel part of the event. The music is live, not prerecorded, and since it is a small theatre you feel the drum and bass hitting your ears hard and live. It brings you to life. The show is a burlesque cabaret musical show in which they sing parody songs in sketches related to current events while wearing disproportionately large cartoon hats and wigs which make it cristal clear to the viewer what is the topic of the parody.
